Group 172 are based in Athlone and work in the surrounding districts: Roscommon and Westmeath. An active group they enjoy the week in Lourdes.

The group has a strong connection with the Lourdes Cycle - many of their members have participated in the six day cycle through France and remain on in Lourdes to care for the young people.
